Tips And Tricks For Interviewing

Trevor Jones Posted by Trevor Jones

As public relations pros, we spend a lot of time arranging interviews for clients with media, analysts, bloggers, podcasters, etc.

Once an interview is setup, we’re expected to help ‘prep’ the interviewee by providing insights into the style of the interviewer, his/her previous discussions of the company, etc. But there’s another type of interview that a lot of us find ourselves involved in quite a bit as well.

If you’re looking to join Bite, you can (at least in the US), expect to start with a phone interview with someone on our HR team, followed by a series of in-person, one-on-one interviews with people at all levels of the organization. In terms of how best to prep for that process, check out what Santa Clara University is doing for its senior class.

As part of the school’s effort to prepare its students for life after college, our VP of HR, Marisa Ramans Mayer, shared some tips and tricks on interviewing for a job. Be sure to check out the 2+ minute video clip at the top of the page in the story linked above (warning, the abc7news.com website is a bit funky with video and doesn’t appear to allow us to embed it here…shame on you old media ;) )

I’m personally not taking ANY credit for prepping Marisa for her television appearance, but must say I think she did quite a good job!
